1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication credentials. If you sign up via GitHub or Google OAuth, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from those providers.
Profile Information
You may optionally provide a bio, website URL, avatar, and interest tags. This information is visible on your public profile if you choose to make it visible.
Usage Data
We collect information about how you use the Service, including pages visited, features used, bookmarks created, messages sent, and search queries. This data helps us improve the product and is not shared with third parties.
AI Chat Data
Conversations with Ask Atlas (our AI assistant) are stored to provide session history and improve the service. Chat messages are processed by Anthropic's Claude API. We do not use your chat data to train AI models.

- To process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, support replies)
- To personalize your experience (interest-based filtering, recommendations)

3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Supabase — Authentication, database, and file storage (hosted in US)
- Vercel — Application hosting and serverless functions
- Stripe — Payment processing (PCI-DSS compliant)
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI chat processing (data not used for training)
- GitHub / Google — OAuth authentication (only if you choose SSO)
Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., transaction records for tax compliance).
AI chat history is retained for the duration of your subscription. Chat sessions older than 90 days may be automatically pruned.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), secure authentication, rate limiting, input validation, and role-based access controls. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent at any time

7. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies. Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for the Service to function.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed and stored in the United States and Canada. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to these jurisdictions, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
